Equipment: Kettlebell, pullup bar, figure 8 resistance tubing
Warmup: 3 rounds of: 25 flutter kicks, 3 Hindu pushups, 5 unweighted Turkish getups per side
Workout:
4-6 rounds of:
½ max reps of pushups
- kettlebell snatches each side
½ max reps of pullups
2 Turkish getups each side Figure 8 tubing curls
3-5 rounds of:
Single leg squats
15 one arm switch hand one arm swings 25 yard sprint
Notes: The first series involves doing about ½ of the total repetitions you would be capable of if you went for a max set to failure. For example, if you could do 20 pushups total, you would choose 5 as your repetition scheme for this workout. For the second series, do reps of single leg squats until you feel like you are one repetition short of failure. Swing the kettlebell hard and explosively using the switch hands style (switching hands in mid air). Move quickly from one exercise to another during the rounds, but you may rest 2-3 minutes between rounds if necessary.
Progression: Progress by increasing resistance or reps or rounds.
Emphasis: The snatches will trash your grip before the pullups and the Turkish getups will fatigue your support muscles (especially around the shoulder girdle) for the pushups. The curls will also affect your pullup numbers. What would normally be an easy repetition scheme will become more difficult. This will probably reduce your numbers across the board, but that is the point.
