At-Home Workout Bad Waiter Exercise

Equipment: kettlebell, pullup bar, figure 8 tubing

Warmup: 10 Turkish Getups, kettlebell windmill left X 5, kettlebell windmill right X 5, 25 flutter kicks

Workout: 3-5 rounds of:

  • Waiter walk left hand
    • Pullups (stop 1 rep shy of failure)
    • Waiter walk right hand
    • Kettlebell overhead press (stop 1 rep shy of failure)
    • Waiter walk left hand
    • 10 swings (snappy, explosive swings)
    • Waiter walk right hand
    • Goblet squats with pause at the bottom

Notes: Rest for 2-3 minutes between rounds but move quickly between exercises. Do not go as fast as you can, but keep a deliberate pace. If you wear a heart rate monitor, your heart rate should be between 70% and 90% max for the duration of the workout. The distance of the waiter walk is to be determined. Just go for a challenging distance but not until you drop your kettlebell.

Progression: Progress by increasing repetitions or weight to stay in the 3-15 repetition range.

Emphasis: The workout emphasizes will crush your core. The warmup and the waiter’s walks will force you to contract all of your support muscles, hard. This is a  great workout to include once per week to improve core stability.
